About Sharon

Sharon L. Tasman is a seasoned attorney whose practice sits at the intersection of technology, life sciences, and commercial transactions. Her more than 30 years of experience includes 15+ years at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious global law firms, and three years in-house at MedImmune, the biologics arm of AstraZeneca, before founding HTBiz Law. She has advised on transactions exceeding $6 billion for clients ranging from emerging growth companies to Fortune 25 institutions, structuring practical, strategic agreements that support innovation, manage risk, and advance business objectives.

Sharon’s practice spans three core areas:

  • Technology — software, systems, services, outsourcing, procurement, licensing, data privacy, and strategic commercial relationships.

  • Life Sciences & Biotechnology — research collaborations, clinical trials, sponsored research, manufacturing and development, and related compliance for companies, study sites, and academic institutions.

  • Commercial Contracting & IP — vendor management, partnership structures, internal policy development, scalable contract systems, and copyright, trademark, and intellectual property protection and licensing.

Through HTBiz Law, Sharon also champions women entrepreneurs and founders from historically underserved communities — particularly those launching service-based businesses after corporate careers. She provides legal education and practical resources covering business formation, LLC operating agreements, client service contracts, digital asset protection, independent contractor relationships, and website legal policies, including her Protect Your Business webinar series and Fundamentals of Intellectual Property workshop series.

A nationally recognized speaker, Sharon presented for nearly a decade with Strafford Publications, leading the popular webinar Protecting IP Rights in Joint Development Agreements and Strategic Alliances, and is a frequent panelist at MAGI Clinical Trials Conferences. She is co-author of the Amazon #1 bestseller Powerhouse Women: She Built It Herself (2022).

Sharon earned her J.D., with Honors, from the University of Maryland School of Law, holds a Certificate in European Legal Studies from Tulane’s Institute in Paris, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland College of Business and Management. She also attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She is admitted in multiple U.S. jurisdictions and advises clients nationally and internationally.
